Kaposia Days
It was Kaposia Days this weekend in good old South St Paul. The fun started with a parade on Friday night. Thankfully we had 3 umbrellas with us as it rained pretty hard for about 15 minutes just as the parade started. It cleared out though and ended up to be a decent night.
On Saturday and Sunday there were all sorts of fun events in the central part of town including BINGO (dang, we weren't winners again this year!), fair foods, games, rides and rides. We had a fun weekend partaking in the festivities.
I wish I could say that the fireworks last night was a good ending to the fun but really it was rather scary for both the kids and us Parents. Pat and I knew there was something wrong right from the start. When the first booms went off there weren't fireworks to be seen in the sky but a big cloud of smoke arose from where they were shooting the fireworks off. Shortly thereafter the fireworks started but were much lower in the sky than normal (about 5 minutes into the show sparks actually came plummeting to the ground probably about 40 feet to the left of us narrowly missing a family). We'd had enough and grabbed the kids and darted out of there when a few moments later something else went wrong from the spot where they were setting the fireworks off and balls of fire probably 10 feet wide and 30 feet high exploded. Thankfully fireworks of this magnitude are all set off from a remote location or surely people would have lost their lives last night. It was a scary deal! I'm thinking the kids might not be ready to go see fireworks again 3 nights from now!
