Dad's Birthday

Scholarship Award Night at Northfield High School happens to be tonight, what would have been Dad's 68th birthday.  Amazingly, tonight's recipient will already be the 8th individual we'll give the award out to.  There will be many more down the road too as Dad was such an awesome person who deserves to be remembered by those of us lucky enough to have known him and by those who never got the chance.

Love you and miss you Dad.

Math Masters Competition

Careline and four of her classmates competed against 16 other teams this morning in the annual Math Masters Competition.  That's 85 5th graders packed in a gymnasium working out math problems (I'm not too bad at math myself, eh).  Her team didn't place in the top 4 but should be proud to have been chosen to represent their school.  Plus, using your brain on a Saturday morning is never a bad thing!

Let's Go Wild!

All eyes in the McLaughlin household were peeled on the television last night as The Wild took on St Louis in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  It was all Wild as they shut out The Blues 3 nothing.  Let's do it again tomorrow!

Math Master

Congrats to Careline who was chosen as 1 of the 10 students to represent the 5th grade class of KEC in the upcoming Math Masters Competition.  For the past couple of months she has stayed after school one day per week working on math drills and problems and in just a couple weeks she and her fellow smarty pants peers will take on students from other surrounding schools.  Go Careline and company!

This Bud's For You

I just love this time of year and how things change outside each and every day.  The buds on the Bubba Tree have begun to open, beginning at the top of the tree first, and with the forecast looking great for the next week, the tree is sure to be full of perfect green leaves before long.

The Jerry Tree survived it's first Winter in its new home in our backyard.  The many buds on it show that it's preparing to fill out soon.  It will be nice to see what it looks like with leaves on it, as it was planted late in the Fall when it was already was leaf-free.

Frozen On Ice

The only thing Adeline really wanted for her birthday was to attend Frozen on Ice.  Lucky for her, it debuted last night in Minneapolis, so her Grandma's and I escorted her to the big event.  It was really quite an excellent performance and a fun time was had by all (but especially by the birthday girl)!

As a bonus, several other Disney characters (including Woody and Buzz, Cinderella, Snow White, Nemo, Ariel, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck,...) made an appearance before and at the end of the show.

Easter At The Kay's

We spent a fun afternoon at the Kay's today house celebrating the Easter holiday.  Wow...did the Easter Bunny ever leave a lot of eggs scattered on their lawn for the kids to find.  After they filled their baskets and emptied the eggs they each came away with approximately $10 and enough candy to keep them wired up for a good long time.  Thank You Easter Bunny(s)!  Thank You to Aunie, too, for a delicious Easter meal.

Since Adeline's 5th birthday is just 3 days away we also celebrated her birthday today.  How amazingly awesome is this Elsa cake that Emily made for her little cousin?!  Super cute and tasty too!

Happy Easter

Just Popping Up

It's always an exciting day when I notice the first Spring flowers have emerged from the previously frozen ground.  It's a wonderful sign that soon the grass will be green, the skies will be blue, the trees will have leaves, and the weather will be spectacular day in and day out.
