Peas Please

Careline and I are thrilled with this Summer's crop of peas in the little McLaughlin garden.  The supply is bountiful and the crunchy fresh  pods make for a nutritious treat on a hot Summer afternoon.

Shootout Champions

The girls participated in the Elks Shootout tonight as part of Family Fun Night in SSP.  Both did very well and came away with 1st Place medals.  Adeline's victory was particularly impressive because she competed in the under 7 category and still took 1st place at the tender age of 5.  They'll now advance to the next level of competition to be held in mid July.  If they win there, they'll earn a family trip to the State finals in Brainerd.  Way to show off your great soccer skills girls!

National Eat Your Vegetables Day

In honor of today being National Eat Your Vegetables Day I made this healthy pizza for lunch.  Pizza's not healthy, you say?  This one actually is.  Believe it or not the crust was made by putting a head of cauliflower through the food processor and adding 2 eggs, a few spices, and 1/4 cup of low fat mozzarella cheese.  I then added a little bit of sauce and my favorite toppings.  It was quite delicious!

Rochester Tournament

Braden and his traveling baseball teammates played ball in a Rochester tournament this weekend.  All 3 games were very close for the most part but unfortunately our boys seemed to have 1 inning late every game where they looked more like the Bad News Bears than  the South St Paul Packers and we came out on the losing end each time.  Fun was had by all though at the hotel on Saturday night.  The boys spent hours in the pool and running around together.  Us Parents had a nice time relaxing and visiting with one another too over snacks and cocktails.

A big Thank You to Grandma Ellen for keeping the girls overnight.  5 people in a hotel room would not have been very much fun.  Here they are using the new Slip n' Slide Grandma bought them.

Extra Special Fans On The Sidelines

Careline's 3rd Grade Teacher and her Daughter came to her game last night to watch her play.  We all know how much Careline loves the game of soccer but she's always extra excited to show off her skills when she's got some fans on the sidelines.

Coming Soon...Fresh Fruit And Veggies

Our little garden is doing pretty well this Summer. The cukes didn't make it through the cold patch we had a few weeks ago...but the green pepper, peas, beans, and tomatoes are thriving.
